Pulkovo 1 Terminal
Designed by the architect A.V. Zhuk and built in 1973, the Pulkovo 1 terminal serves domestic, CIS and international flights. The terminal’s throughput is close to 1,900 passengers/hour.
The terminal consists of four levels designed to separate passenger flows. The first level, handling arrivals and luggage, is divided into two sections: one for international, the other for domestic flights.
The second level also has separate sections for domestic and international flights. This is where all passengers and their luggage undergo preflight checkup and outbound passengers are registered. Passport control and customs clearance are also administered on the 2nd level, along with ticket sales and luggage packing. There are Lenrianta duty free shops on the 2nd level, as well as a pharmacy, café, post office, currency exchange office, book shops and newsstands, all located in the shopping area.
Travelers are offered a good selection of snacks and beverages, newspapers and magazines, phone, fax, Internet and TV.
The 3rd and 4th levels house recreation areas for travelers, a VIP lounge, a mother and child room, some bars, a restaurant, a hair salon, payphones, and Russian and CIS airline offices.
There are many wireless Internet hot spots at the Pulkovo 1 terminal.
In addition to the four levels, the terminal has three traveler service sectors. Sector A, reserved for high-ranking official delegations, has a separate entrance, driveway, ramp access and aircraft parking spaces. Sector B is for travelers on domestic and international flights. Sector C serves VIP travelers and travelers no St. Petersburg—Moscow flights.
